Categories

Categories group expenses for reporting and review.

Category Data

Each category has:

  • name
  • optional icon
  • optional color

Categories are used by recurring expenses and daily expenses. They improve dashboard category breakdowns, analytics, search results, and AI assistant context.

Managing Categories

Open Categories from the sidebar or Settings > Data Management.

You can create, update, and delete categories. After changes, Cashlytics refreshes category-dependent pages such as Settings, Categories, and Expenses.

Practical Tips

  • Keep category names short and consistent.
  • Avoid duplicate categories with only small wording differences.
  • Assign categories during receipt scan review before saving the expense.
