Documents

Documents are files attached to expenses or daily expenses. Use them for receipts, invoices, warranties, and supporting records.

Upload and Attachment Behavior

Documents can be uploaded from expense workflows and are also created automatically by the receipt scanner when a scanned expense is saved with its source image.

Each document stores:

  • file name
  • MIME type
  • file size
  • base64-encoded file data
  • owner user ID
  • optional recurring expense link
  • optional daily expense link

Library View

The Documents page shows your uploaded files with filters and search. You can search by file name or linked expense name and filter by document type or category where linked metadata is available.

Preview, Download, and Delete

Image files are previewed inline. PDF files are shown in an embedded preview. Other file types may not have a preview but can still be downloaded.

Deleting a document removes the stored file record. It does not delete the linked expense itself.

Privacy Boundary

Documents are user-scoped. The AI assistant is not allowed to read uploaded document content.
